What is Noorani Qaida?

Noorani Qaida is a beginner's primer used to teach reading Quranic Arabic. It starts with single letters and their sounds, then builds slowly towards joined letters, vowel marks and short words. By the end, a child has the tools to begin reading from the Quran with the teacher's guidance.

It is Step 1 in our curriculum because everything else rests on it. Tajweed, fluent reading and memorization are much easier for a child who learned the letters and sounds correctly from the start.

What does Step 1 cover?

  • Letters and makharij: recognizing each letter and saying it from the right place in the mouth and throat.
  • Joined letters: how letters change shape at the start, middle and end of a word.
  • Harakat: the short vowel marks that tell a child how to read each letter.
  • Tanween: the doubled marks that add an extra "n" sound at the end of a word.
  • Madd, sukoon and shaddah: stretching a sound, stopping on a letter and doubling a letter.

The teacher moves through these in order and only goes forward when your child is ready.

How is Noorani Qaida taught online?

Classes are private, 30 minutes and live on Zoom with Ustadha Ayesha Azmat. She writes with a digital pen and uses on-screen slides, so your child can see each letter and mark clearly while hearing it said aloud. Your child repeats after her, then reads the same lines alone while she listens.

She has experience teaching children outside the Arab world who do not speak Arabic at home, and she speaks English, Urdu and Arabic. Positive reinforcement and reward stickers keep young learners encouraged, and revision is built into each class so that earlier lessons are not forgotten.

Progress varies. It depends on your child's age, how much they practice at home and how regularly they attend. A six-year-old and a ten-year-old will not move at the same speed, and neither is wrong. We do not promise how many weeks Step 1 will take, and we do not issue a certificate for completing it.

Even a few minutes of daily repetition with a parent makes a visible difference. After the trial class, the teacher will describe a realistic pace for your child, and you can choose a plan that fits. The Foundations plan is two private 30-minute classes a week for $45 a month; see tuition and schedules.

What comes after Noorani Qaida?

When your child can read the Qaida lessons steadily, the teacher moves on to Step 2: Tajweed rules, and then to fluent reading. Younger children usually begin in Little Mu'min, and children aged 7 to 10 in Junior Reciters.

The first step is simple. Request the free trial class through the form or on WhatsApp, and we will match a teacher, subject to availability.

Questions about best kids quran in United States

Is Noorani Qaida only for very young children?

No. Noorani Qaida suits any child who has not yet learned to read Quranic Arabic, whether they are four or fourteen. Older beginners often move faster through the early lessons, while younger children benefit from shorter, more playful classes. The teacher adjusts her style to your child's age and attention span during the trial class.

My child already reads a little. Do we still need Step 1?

Possibly, possibly not. If your child reads with some mistakes or by guessing, a quick pass through the Qaida can fix weak spots in letter sounds and vowel marks. The teacher will listen during the trial class and tell you honestly whether to begin at Step 1 or to move straight to Tajweed.

Does my child need to know Arabic before starting?

No. This step assumes no Arabic. Your child learns the letters and sounds from the beginning, and the teacher can explain in English, Urdu or Arabic as needed. It helps if your child hears recitation at home, but it is not required. A calm routine and regular classes matter most.

Will my child receive a Noorani Qaida certificate?

No, we do not issue a certificate or diploma for completing Step 1. What we offer is careful, private teaching and honest updates on how your child is progressing. The Foundations plan includes a monthly progress report, and you can ask the teacher at any time how your child is doing.

How do I start the free trial?

Use the short form on the trial page or message us on WhatsApp. We need your WhatsApp number so we can reply, and we will ask for your child's age, your country and what your child has learned so far. The trial class is free, and a teacher is matched subject to availability.
