What is the Young Muslimah Mentorship?

The Young Muslimah Mentorship is a private program for girls who would like to learn the Quran with a woman teacher. Classes are taught by Ustadha Ayesha Azmat, live and one-to-one on Zoom, in 30-minute sessions.

Alongside Quran reading and Tajweed, the program gives attention to tarbiyah, which means the upbringing of good character and Islamic habits. In practice this happens through daily duas, manners and stories of the Prophets, woven into the lessons rather than added as a separate subject.

Why do some families choose a female teacher for their daughter?

This is a personal choice, and families have their own reasons. Many parents say they simply feel more at ease when their daughter learns with a woman, and some girls find it easier to ask questions and read aloud without feeling shy.

The teacher speaks English, Urdu and Arabic, and she has experience teaching children outside the Arab world who do not speak Arabic at home. That helps a daughter who is growing up in the USA, UK, Canada or Australia feel understood from the first class.

What does a class include?

  • Quran reading: from Noorani Qaida for beginners to fluent reading for girls who are further along.
  • Tajweed: makharij, madd and the other Tajweed rules, taught step by step.
  • Memorization: available for girls who read steadily and want to begin.
  • Daily duas and manners: short, practical pieces, including wudu and salah, as covered in Step 4.

The teacher uses a digital pen and on-screen slides, and she encourages your daughter with positive reinforcement and reward stickers. There is room for your daughter to ask questions.

Classes are private and one-to-one. Parents are welcome to sit nearby, and for younger girls we suggest that a parent stays close. We also encourage every family to ask us how classes are run and who the teacher is before enrolling.

You can ask for the details of Ustadha Ayesha's qualifications on WhatsApp. Our teacher page sets out what she holds, including the Alimah Fazilah qualification and an ijazah with a sanad in Tajweed-ul-Quran, Hafs 'an 'Asim.

What should I expect from this program?

Every girl learns at her own pace. Progress depends on her age, practice at home and regular attendance. We do not promise a speed or a result, and the teacher will describe a realistic pace after the trial class.

Plans are private 30-minute classes, two days a week for $45, three days for $65 or five days for $99 a month, and classes can be rescheduled with notice if your family travels. See tuition and schedules, then request the free trial class.

Questions about best kids quran in United States

Will my daughter be taught by a woman?

Yes. Classes in this program are taught by Ustadha Ayesha Azmat. They are private and one-to-one on Zoom. Before enrolling, we encourage you to ask how classes are run and who the teacher is, and we are happy to answer your questions on WhatsApp so that you and your daughter feel comfortable before the first class.

What ages and levels can join?

The program is for daughters from young children up to teenagers. The teacher adjusts the lesson to your daughter's age and level, whether she needs a first Noorani Qaida lesson, Tajweed correction or help starting memorization. Tell us your daughter's age and what she has learned so far, and we will explain where she is likely to begin.

Does the program teach more than Quran reading?

Yes, in a light and practical way. Along with Quran reading and Tajweed, lessons include daily duas, manners and stories of the Prophets, and wudu and salah are covered in the curriculum. We do not issue religious rulings in class. For questions beyond the lesson, we suggest that families ask a qualified scholar.

Can a parent sit nearby during the class?

Yes, parents are welcome to sit nearby, and for young children we suggest a parent stays close. Many mothers like to listen and then help their daughter revise later in the day. If your daughter is older and prefers some space, you can agree on what works for your family.
