Who is the Junior Reciters program for?

Junior Reciters is for children aged 7 to 10 who are ready to move from sounding out letters to reading with care. Some children arrive having finished a Qaida somewhere else, some read slowly and with mistakes, and some are complete beginners at this age. All of them are welcome.

During the trial class the teacher listens to your child read and finds the right starting point. If the basics are not yet steady, she will suggest starting with Step 1: Noorani Qaida before moving on, so that nothing is rushed.

What does a live class look like?

Each class is 30 minutes, private, and live on Zoom with Ustadha Ayesha Azmat. A typical class begins with revision of the last lesson, then a new point, then reading aloud while the teacher listens and gently corrects. She uses a digital pen and on-screen slides so your child can see exactly what is being explained.

The teacher has experience with children who do not speak Arabic at home, and she speaks English, Urdu and Arabic. That means a child who is unsure can ask a question and get an answer in a language they understand.

What will my child work on?

  • Smooth, steady reading: moving from single words to full lines without guessing.
  • Makharij: pronouncing each letter from its correct place.
  • Harakat, tanween, sukoon and shaddah: reading every mark correctly and without hurrying.
  • Madd: knowing when a sound is stretched and for how long.
  • Tajweed rules: introduced one at a time, as set out in Step 2, then practiced in short Quran passages.

As reading becomes more comfortable, the next stage is fluent reading.

Children between 7 and 10 like to feel that they are getting somewhere. The teacher uses positive reinforcement and reward stickers, and she celebrates small improvements so a child is not discouraged by mistakes. Daily duas, good manners and stories of the Prophets are part of the lessons, which keeps classes warm and varied.

A parent can help by listening for ten minutes at home and asking your child to read the day's lesson aloud. You do not need to know Arabic to do this. A calm, regular routine matters more than long sessions.

What should I expect from this program?

Progress varies from child to child. It depends on your child's age, practice at home and regular attendance. We do not promise a speed or a date by which your child will read fluently. After the trial class the teacher will describe a realistic pace, and you can decide on a plan.

Plans are private 30-minute classes, two days a week for $45, three days for $65 or five days for $99 a month. See tuition and schedules, then request the free trial class when you are ready.

Questions about best kids quran in United States

Does my child need to finish Noorani Qaida first?

Not always. A child who can already read letters and short words with the vowel marks can often begin Tajweed work straight away. A child who is still unsure of letter sounds usually benefits from Qaida first. The teacher will check during the trial class and explain what she recommends, so you are not left guessing about the right place to start.

My child reads a little but makes many mistakes. Is this program suitable?

Yes, this is a common starting point. The teacher listens carefully, notes which sounds and rules need attention and corrects them kindly during class. Mistakes are treated as part of learning, not as failures. Small, regular practice at home helps these corrections stick, and the teacher can tell you what to focus on between classes.

How will I know how my child is doing?

The teacher will share updates on how your child is progressing, and parents are welcome to ask questions after class. The Foundations plan includes a monthly progress report. If you would like to know how updates work on another plan, ask us on WhatsApp before you decide, and we will explain it plainly.

Which plan suits a child aged 7 to 10?

It depends on your child and your family's week. Two classes a week at $45 suits a gentle start, three classes at $65 gives steadier practice with Tajweed and daily duas, and five classes at $99 suits families who want daily lessons. The teacher will suggest a realistic pace after the trial class.
